Imagine being able to reach through your computer screen into an online shop or game and take whatever you want. That’s the idea behind The Microsoft Surface Unit, the first commercially available surface computing platform from Microsoft. Based on technology that would not be out of place in a science fiction film, it turns an ordinary tabletop into a vibrant, interactive surface, providing effortless access to digital content through natural gestures, touch and physical objects.
The advanced technology eliminates the need for mouse or keyboard, enabling users to ‘grab’ digital information with their hands. People interact with content by touch and gesture and the system recognises dozens of points of contact simultaneously. It’s a huge step beyond the traditional touch-screen, which can only process information from one finger at a time.
Initially only available in the US, Microsoft Surface Unit is now on sale in the UK, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Qatar, Spain, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). a&o provides support in all of these countries.
Although relatively new to the market, the system has seen a high level of uptake in the education sector. A Europe-wide roll-out programme is underway for one of the big four mobile service providers and the technology has even featured on prime-time TV, on the X-Factor, the Gadget Show and BBC’s Click programme.
The choice of a&o as European Service Partners for this leading-edge technology was based on our extensive global reach and our team of Recognised Microsoft Subject Matter Experts. This team is led by Technical Support Specialist, Alan Twigg, who runs a series of in-depth training programmes to ensure services of the consistently high standard that a&o customers have come to expect.
